Hume SD (Day 2)

Good day ya’ll! Today has been fabulous one; full of cheering, worship, euro bungee(ing??), and all of the usual crazy youth stuff! All of the students have been really enjoying themselves at camp; from worship and services to free time. If you didn’t know already the camp is on PLNU’s (Point Loma Nazarene University) campus in San Diego, which is pretty much right on the beach. So you can imagine how unlucky we all are.

The message this week is about the essentials in Christianity. Last night the message was about the Doctrine of God. Tonight we dove into the Doctrine of man and sin. The speaker did an excellent job of showing us all how deficient we are without God. Showing us all that we are powerless on our own (Romans 3). The whole week is centered around emphasizing the basic truths in Christianity to build our foundation of faith.

There have been quite a few highlights of the day. At camp we have a rec time. This is where the students go crazy (I mean CRAZY!) and do a bunch of relays and games. Some of the girls are on a team called the Robocows (the theme is very robotic). They had a great first day at rec and their team is in first place! So go them! Well not really, we all know the guys team, the Smashbots, are going to come back and upset the whole field! We shouldn’t get into that too much though. Besides all of this nutty stuff, it has been great to watch a bunch of students flip around on the euro bungee, tough out the bull ride, and even eat spaghetti without any silverware…be afraid, be very afraid. Well we are looking forward to a great rest of the week. Tomorrow I’ll make sure to fire up some photos for you guys so you can see all the action. I forgot to grab the cameras from the girls to get there photos from them. So sit back relax and enjoy the plethora photos that will be coming your way tomorrow!

Mystery Road Trip

Hume: San Diego (Day 1)

We got to Pt. Loma around 4:30 or so yesterday afternoon. Got everyone settled in the dorms and had dinner. Then there was a FANTASTIC opener complete with dancing robots, lasers, smoke, and bubbles. Yeah, you kinda had to be there.

I headed back home last night so I can go to a doctor’s appointment with Nicole this week. I’m planning on heading back Wednesday morning to catch the last couple days of camp. Ben will be posting photos and updates here.

Wednesday Night

Don’t miss out on this Wednesday night in The Loft! Ben will be teaching from 1 Corinthians 13 in a message called “How to Not Kill Your Siblings.” Intrigued? We’ll see you there at 6:30!

The Hub – Worship Night

Just got back from an amazing worship night in The Loft.  I should have taken some pictures, but didn’t.  So sorry.  We spent time singing together, praying together, praying alone, journaling, etc.  Lots of cool stuff.  Keep your eyes out for the next one.

On another note, I accidentally ended up without car keys and had to hitch a ride home with Emily Phaneuf’s dad.  Yeah, I’m pretty smart.

This Wednesday Night

See you in the Loft at 6:30! We’ll be talking about How to Pray and looking at Matthew 6:5-15 together. Remember that The Loft opens up at 6 and stays open until 9 if you want to hang out.

See you there!

Summer Camp Update

If you’re going to camp with us, we had hoped to get info packets with the fun detailed information out in the mail today, but something came up that delayed that. So, the packets will be mailed on Monday instead. Watch your mailbox!

If you haven’t signed up and would still like to go, we do still have some space. I’ve talked with some students already who are interested in the spots, but let me know if you’d like in and we’ll see what we can do.
