Summer Camp 2009

We’re already looking ahead to next summer’s camp. Each year we take students to Hume San Diego. You can check out what our summer camp is like here. In the meantime, help us figure out the best date to head to camp next year by taking our nifty little poll.

Round Up Sunday

Bring a friend with you this Sunday! We’ll be having a cowboy costume contest in high school that morning with sweet prizes.

After church, join us for lunch in the corner parking lot. Any first-time guests you bring with you eat for free!

See you there!

5th Quarter

We’ll have free nachos and also bust out some Guitar Hero on the big screens. Ben and I will be hanging at the Poly-Ramona game before. Maybe we’ll see you there!

Mystery Road Trip: Deadline Tomorrow!

Last chance to sign up is this Wednesday night! We’re going to have a blast hanging out all day as we cruise all over SoCal!

Hume San Diego (Day 4)

Today was a great day at camp.  It was my first day back after leaving on Sunday.   Here are some of the highlights of the day:

  • The girls built a giant cow mascot for their team.
  • Bunch of students played some AirSoft and got out their aggressions by shooting each other.
  • Some of the guys had some fun with the frisbee.
  • Darrin (our camp speaker) taught on the Doctrine of the Church.  Good stuff.
  • Many of the students have shared that God is doing some great things in their life.
  • As I type this (at 11:57pm) the guys are reciting memory verses to earn extra points for our team.

It’s been a great week so far.  Tomorrow we’ll be taking 10 of us to downtown San Diego to participate in some urban ministry.  Pray for us as we finish up our last full day of camp!

Hume SD (Day 2)

Good day ya’ll! Today has been fabulous one; full of cheering, worship, euro bungee(ing??), and all of the usual crazy youth stuff! All of the students have been really enjoying themselves at camp; from worship and services to free time. If you didn’t know already the camp is on PLNU’s (Point Loma Nazarene University) campus in San Diego, which is pretty much right on the beach. So you can imagine how unlucky we all are.

The message this week is about the essentials in Christianity. Last night the message was about the Doctrine of God. Tonight we dove into the Doctrine of man and sin. The speaker did an excellent job of showing us all how deficient we are without God. Showing us all that we are powerless on our own (Romans 3). The whole week is centered around emphasizing the basic truths in Christianity to build our foundation of faith.

There have been quite a few highlights of the day. At camp we have a rec time. This is where the students go crazy (I mean CRAZY!) and do a bunch of relays and games. Some of the girls are on a team called the Robocows (the theme is very robotic). They had a great first day at rec and their team is in first place! So go them! Well not really, we all know the guys team, the Smashbots, are going to come back and upset the whole field! We shouldn’t get into that too much though. Besides all of this nutty stuff, it has been great to watch a bunch of students flip around on the euro bungee, tough out the bull ride, and even eat spaghetti without any silverware…be afraid, be very afraid. Well we are looking forward to a great rest of the week. Tomorrow I’ll make sure to fire up some photos for you guys so you can see all the action. I forgot to grab the cameras from the girls to get there photos from them. So sit back relax and enjoy the plethora photos that will be coming your way tomorrow!
