Ben mentioned four things about Solomon’s prayer:
Solomon starts his prayer with praising God for how big He is
Solomon realized that God knew everything about his heart
Solomon prayed for those who didn’t yet know God
Solomon recognized that God is faithful

Questions to Think About/Discuss:
What does most of your prayer time consist of?
Do you ever try to hide things from God? Why?
Do you hate your sin? What needs to change in your life so that you hate it?
How can your prayer time include your friends who don’t know God?
How has God shown Himself to be faithful to you?
Israel constantly struggled with being faithful to God…..how do you struggle with being faithful to Him?

I’ve called several times over the last month or so to find out if spots are available. Churches’ rosters were due this past Monday and now they’re waiting to get the late ones and then they’ll know what space looks like. When we find out the status of the camp spots we’ll let you know both here and by an email.

How have those expectations changed as you’ve gotten to know Him more?
Why do you think Jesus had to suffer?
Define “redemption” in your own words.
Why is Jesus’ blood so critical to our knowing God? (HINT: Leviticus 17:11)
How does Jesus’ resurrection make a difference in your life?
What needs to change in the way you view Jesus?

The Holy Spirit:

Questions

  • How does the Holy Spirit help us?  How does it encourage us?
  • Why do we need guidance from the Holy Spirit to understand the scriptures?
  • In what ways has the Holy Spirit reminded you of something/convicted you of something?
  • Why do we have such a hard time relying on the power of God?
  • Have you ever felt like you were running on empty? What made you feel this way? Tonight Mike mentioned a book by Doug Fields titled Refuel. If you are feeling drained and burnt out maybe this book you should check out.
  • Why do we need the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf?

Mike began the series by speaking about God the Father.

Mike’s Points

-Three things to remember about the Trinity

  1. God is three persons
  2. Each person is fully God
  3. There is one God

God the Father interacts with the trinity by planning, directing and sending the Son and Holy Spirit.

How God the Father interacts with us:

  • Loves us
  • Enjoys us
  • Blesses us
  • Disciplines us

Questions to Ponder

Mike stated that one thing that sets our God apart from others is that we worship one true God while others worship many flase gods.  What are some of the false gods that people worship today?

How can you pray “God what is it that you are blessing and how can I join in?”

Has your view of your earthly father skewed your view of your heavenly Father?  Read back over the points on who God is above.

What are some ways that you can correct your “skewed” thoughts about God?

How important is discipline?

What is the difference between discipline and punishment?

What would the world look like if no one was disciplined?  What would your life like if you were never disciplined?

What aspect of God the Father do you need to be reminded of the most?
